Just a quick note to all my regular visitors. I have been unable to do any walking at the moment due to the high tides. There is one creek that I cant get across without soaking everything I have on and am carrying. as soon as the tides are lower I will start again!

My walk today was fantastic. I walked from Sea Temple to the stinger nets and then back again. I had two lots of rubbish and managed to pick up a lot I am very happy with my effort today. I also saw a massive sting ray swimming and a few jelly fish washed up on the beach. I had to walk thru waist deep water to get home, which wasnt very fun, but it was a beautiful day.

So I finally got to walk to work. It was so great to be back on the beach, and I got lucky it didnt rain on me. The beach has chnaged so much due to the high tides that we had and all the rain. The pic to the right shows one of the spots that were effected the most by the rain. The little creeks smelt so bad... like really smelly farts EW! I had to walk across one that was about groin height, I managed to stay mostly dry though. I could tell that it was party season as there was many party spots with HEAPS of bottles. There was no way I could get them all so I am going to make the journey tomorrow to get some more.. its my day off but I have to do it. I cant leave it looking like that!

I am sitting here at my usual leaving time, but I am unable to leave as I have been defeated by the rain. Its raining cats and dogs, not ideal weather to walk to work . I guess it is the wet season so I shall try again tomorrow. May be a battle to walk a lot over the new few months, but I will try! I have been contacted by a really amazing organization to be a representitive in this area. Surfrider Foundation is a not for profit organisation dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people. Just like what I want to do Ill let you know how it goes! hopefully I will walk tomorrow and up date the site accordingly. Have a great day!

Happy 2008! After almost 3 weeks of holidays I am getting ready to start back at work again and will be updating the site as per usual. I am contemplating many new things this year and hopefully I can get more people involved and some wheels rolling on some things for our beach. I went for a small walk today and got a couple things. I think its going to be a big week for rubbish with the high tides and such a long time since I picked anything up.

I found lots of rubbish again today. I guess every day I hope it not there. But there is so much washing up I dont know if it will ever be all gone. I just tell myself that at least this is three less bags that are there for us to see. I know I am making a difference even if its just one bag at a time! And if more people helped then it would be amazing!

People were saying nice things to me on my walk today. Its so nice when people express their appreciation. Makes the pain worthwile.. Its hard to carry all of the rubbish, I get pretty sore! Today was plastic day, I have never seen so many bits of plastic bags in one day, its almost all that I picked up. I also found a full unopened bottle of bleach, I wish the boaties would be more caring and not throw all their rubbish overboard.

My walk seemed to take forever today. It was very hot and I picked up a bit more than I should have cause I was really struggling to hold on to it all. I saw a lovely lady picking up some rubbish as well... she asked me for a spare bag but I didnt have one. Good on her for doing her part its so nice to see other people helping out too. I found a few coat hangers today, which I thought was a bit strange.

Today was a very sad day for me on my walk. I have never seen so much rubbish on the beach. I just couldnt pick it all up. I am pretty sure I could have filled 5 or 6 bags. So much was washed up on the beach it was crazy, along with many party spots. My bag broke as well so it was a bit of a mission to try and get it all back. I did see another local picking up a few bits of rubbish which was great, I know I am not the only one. I think tomorrow I will take a couple extra bags. I hate not being able to pick it all up.

Today I went for a walk from seatemple south towards Cairns with my 6 year old step daughter helping me out to collect some rubbish. I was blown away by the amount that we found in such a short walk I brought 2 bags and thankfully found another. We had to leave a heap becuase I couldnt carry any more. It was very overcast and threatning to rain but we got lucky. This is the most I have ever collected and with my little helper it was a lot more fun.

Another nice day today. It was overcast so not as hot and there was lots of people on the beach. I saw a fire still burning today and a lovely local putting it out with his fishing bucket I was dismayed to see a large pile of bottles and rubbish thrown in the fire.. for one I couldnt get it out without buring my hand and two.. what do people think happen to stuff they put in fire.. glass doesnt disapear it breaks and then once the fire pit is gone the glass is still there.

Was a great day today sunny and the water was flat. Found quite a few toothbrushes today. Seems a really weird thing to find. I know they come from boats but its still weird when I find them. I'd say I have found 10 toothbrushes since I started this. At least once a day.

The ocean was flat this morning.. so beautiful. I was hoping my efforts in cleaning up the beach were making a difference... but there was two bags for me yet again. more parties and more stuff washed up. I am all for people having a drink on the beach. I have done it myself, I just dont understand why its so hard for people to bring back what they took down there with them. Hopefully one day soon I will be able to walk to work without picking up a heap... someday I hope!

Today was a great day for walking on the beach, the ocean was calm and it was cool because it was overcast. Found a lot of bottles again today, must have been another party night. I also have been finding a lot of the bottles of Bayclin and I researched it and its a type of bleach cleaner.. i am not sure how they get on the beach but I find tons of them each day. I hope each day I wont get two bags, but there seems to be more and more each day.

Nov 28, 2007: Today I found many fresh beach fire pits, most were good and took their rubbish with them but a couple had bottles, and one had broken bottles in the fire pit. It was a beautiful morning.. low tide so lots of beach to scour, and it was hot. I also saw a dead tree snake, which was really sad and smelled horrible.
